HemPower in Disaster-Relief Trials

22-Jun-2009 Eco-Shelter, a charity specializing in rapid disaster relief deployment of food and shelter, are preparing to test HemPower Human Bio-Fuel as a disaster relief food.

Eco-Shelter spokesman, Gareth Strangemore Jones, explained "We were aware of hemp seed as a powerful, balanced source of nutrition, but there is always the problem of food preparation in a disaster scenario. Carbs, proteins, amino acids, essential fatty acids and omega oils in a food that takes so little effort to prepare with just hot water is incredibly exciting if you're in the business of keeping injured and stressed people alive while other agencies mobilize their efforts.

Eco-Shelter are also liasing with AMARU sister organization Hemp Global Solutions in assessing a community hemp model that could help prevent many disasters and meet challenges such as mud-slides, soil erosion, deforestation, nutrition, shelter and economic resources.

Plans are being drawn up to run trials on the African, Asian and South American continents. 'It looks as though president Obama may finally repeal the ridiculous ban on non-narcotic hemp that was introduced at a time when hemp appeared to threaten many other, less sustainable industries." Said Carlo Dawson, AMARU creative director and co-founder of Hemp Global Solutions.

'It is becoming increasingly obvious that hemp is a potent solution to so many human-created challenges, and if president Obama is serious about environmental reform, it will be impossible to ignore hemp which is clearly - and literally - head and shoulders above typical intensive crops in nutrition, biomass, and soil benefits,' continued Mr Dawson.

The point was echo'd by Mr Strangemore Jones: 'Hemp looks to be the 'great green hope' of the environmental movement, so we need a rational approach from official bodies and organizations.'
